An investigation is underway following a school threat in Lyon County on Friday that locked down Lyon County High School and sent students home.
According to Kentucky State Police, a call came in just after noon on Friday that the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office had received a threat through a phone call that a person was at the high school and armed with a gun. All Lyon County schools immediately went on lock-down.
School Resource Officers and local law enforcement worked to secure the school’s campus and conduct searches—multiple searches, including the use of a KSP explosives detection K9—ultimately concluded that no active threats were found.
In accordance with school policy, students were transported off campus to a reunification site, where they were released to their families. All students were safe and accounted for.
The investigation remains ongoing as KSP Post 1 troopers and detectives are working to determine the source of the threat.
