Hoptown’s Cavinder takes 2nd at Owensboro invite

It was another weekend of cross country and another impressive performance for several Hopkinsville High School runners.

The Tigers’ Tyson Cavinder took second place in the 59th annual Owensboro Invitational Saturday. Teammate Savior Davis was 12th and earned a medal.

Levi Johnston took home 34th place and Fernado Ginez Rojas was 35th as the Tigers finished sixth as a team.

Jacob Carter was 60th in the meet.

In the High School Girls’ race, Lauren Mayes continued her stellar season by taking seventh place and Alexis Herrera Loveto medaled with a 13th-place finish to lead the Lady Tigers to a third-place finish.

Evelyn Bangart crossed the line in 23rd and 25th went to Kaydon Coats.

Also running for Hoptown were Amerah Acree (38th) and Luanna Acree (47).

Hopkinsville will run at the Marshall County Invitational this Saturday morning.
