The Christian County Lady Colonels proved too much for a young University Heights Academy squad and swept past the Lady Blazers 3-0 Thursday night in a District 8 volleyball match at Lyle Dunbar Gym.
The first set was close all the way through with the Lady Blazers taking a one-point lead late before falling 25-19.
Christian County took control of the second set early on and cruised to a 25-14 victory and then put the match away with a competitive 25-20 third set.
Christian County improved to 7-6 overall and 1-0 in District 8 play. UHA is now 3-6 overall and 0-2 in District 8.
Gretchen Durham had a big game for the Lady Blazers with two blocks, eight digs, and nine assists. Megan Long had three kills, a block, and three digs. Niyona Brown added two kills and Cassidy Keller provided 14 digs.
Statistics were not available for Christian County.
The Lady Colonels are scheduled to play Saturday at Adair County. UHA returns to action Saturday at Livingston Central.
