The Christian County Colonels will face another tough opponent tonight when they play host to the McKenzie, Tenn., Rebels in a high school football game.
The Colonels are 0-2 on the season and coming off a 55-0 loss to the Class 2-A, No. 2-ranked Mayfield Cardinals last Friday. McKenzie is ranked No. 2 in the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Class 1-A, Division 1 Poll and are 1-1 on the year.
The Rebels are led by junior quarterback Cole Brown, who has accounted for seven touchdowns already this season. He has thrown for 309 yards and five scores and run for 91 yards and two touchdowns.
Colonels’ coach Ethan Atchley said his defense will have their hands full with the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder.
The Colonels have been hampered by turnovers with 13 in the opening two games of the season. However, Christian County did find its running game last week in the loss to Mayfield. Junior running back Deasian Harris ran for 74 yards on 18 carries and provided a much-needed offensive spark.
Despite last week’s loss, Atchley said he has seen improvement in his team and is confident they will play well tonight.
Before the game, the 2025 CCHS Athletic Hall of Fame class will be recognized. At halftime, former CCHS stars Anthony Hickey Jr., and Griffin Joiner will have their jerseys retired.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. with airtime set for 6:30 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
