Lady Warriors’ KCAC state volleyball run ends in semis

Heritage Christian Academy’s volleyball team came up just short of a KCAC state title as the Lady Warriors were defeated by Whitefield Academy in the semifinals on Saturday.

HCA (4-2) defeated Foundation Christian 25-18, 25-18 in the first match of the day. Taylor Barbee had five kills and five aces and Makenzie McCarty provided seven assists. Charity Chambers had 13 digs and Allie Craft added eight digs.

In the second game, the Lady Warriors defeated June Buchanan 25-14, 25-17. Hadlee Hayes had six kills.

In the quarterfinals, HCA took on Whitesville Trinity and dropped the first set 25-23 before bouncing back with a 25-17 win and a 15-6 victory to take the match.

Barbee had 11 kills, 11 digs, three assists and two aces. Hayes provided seven kills and 13 digs. Chambers had 10 digs and four assists and McCarty had four kills, 13 assists, and an ace.

In the semifinals, Whitefield Academy eliminated the Lady Warriors 25-17, 25-17.

Chambers had nine digs and Craft had five digs. Hayes had the only two kills for HCA in the match.

The Lady Warriors return to action tonight at Todd County Central.
