The Pennyroyal Arts Council is inviting the community to enjoy a free night of live theater on September 17 with Shakespeare in the Park, a showing of The Tempest.
Kentucky Shakespeare will take over the Hopkinsville Greenway Amphitheater located outside of the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17.
The Tempest is considered to be one of Shakespeare’s final works, and tells the story Prospero, the exiled Duke of Milan, who uses magic to shipwreck his usurping brother and other enemies on a remote island, weaving the characters together in themes of revenge, forgiveness and power.
Folks are urged to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs for the viewing, and it is free to attend, thanks to the Pennyroyal Arts Councils and their smARTS program.
If it should rain, the performance will move indoors to the Alhambra Theatre.
