KYTC closes portion of I-69 following rain damages

A portion of Interstate 69 in Hopkins County was closed after it was damaged by Thursday’s heavy rain.

The cabinet has closed the right lane of the interstate at mile marker 111 which is between the Mortons Gap and Earlington exits. According to the cabinet, Thursday’s rainfall led to the rapid deterioration of the road which was recently repaired for a crack.

At this time, engineers are assessing the damage before making any repairs. There is no estimated date for when the lane will reopen.
