Rain the likely culprit in a crash with injuries on the Pennyrile Parkway

A sudden heavy rain was the likely cause of a single-vehicle crash on the Pennyrile Parkway on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the collision report from the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle operated by 40-year-old Carrie Cartwright of White Plains was heading south on the Parkway near the 13-mile-marker when it suddenly rained, causing the roadway to become water-covered.

Cartwright informed deputies that she hydroplaned on the water and lost control of the vehicle, which went off the roadway and into the median.

She was transported to Baptist Regional Medical Center for treatment of pain to her back and wrist.
