Hopkinsville officials to host Ward One town hall meeting

Citizens in Hopkinsville’s first ward will have the chance to share their concerns, ask questions and learn more about public safety at Thursday’s Cordial Conversation Town Hall.

City Public Information Officer Amanda Brunt says Ward One Council Member Vance Smith brought up the idea of doing a town hall for his community. Brunt says the town hall serves to address concerns within the ward, but all city residents are invited to attend.

To start the town hall, Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby will spotlight his department’s public safety and policing efforts, and then residents will be able to ask questions.

The town hall will be live streamed for those unable to attend in person. Brunt says questions from the town hall will be recorded and Smith and Newby will join her for a future episode of the ‘Here in Hoptown’ Podcast to further discuss them.

Brunt encourages citizens who want to host a town hall meeting for their community to contact the council member representing their ward. Thursday’s town hall will be at 5 p.m. at the Kenneth Bates Community Center and there will be free barbecue eats.
