Relay For Life hosting fundraising events, Butterfly Release in August

The Christian County Relay For Life is starting to get into full swing with fundraising, and they have a lot of plans in store for August, including a Trivia Night, a fundraiser with a local restaurant and their annual Butterfly Release.

First up, Trivia Night takes over the Concord Baptist Fellowship Hall on Concord Lane on Saturday, August 9 and Pam Futrell with Relay says the dinner starts at 6 p.m. with trivia getting underway at 7 p.m.

You can field a team of six or you can sign up to compete individually—it’s $15 per person to take part in the trivia, and the catered dinner is $10 per person. Tickets are available at the door or ahead of time by calling Libby Downs at 270-985-8544.

Then on August 19, you can help support Relay’s mission by eating at Panera Bread in Hopkinsville on Fort Campbell Boulevard from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., where 25 percent of sales will be donated to the cause. Futrell says all you have to do is use the code FUND4U either on the Panera Bread website, their app, or at kiosk in the restaurant itself.

Then the official kick-off for Relay For Life Center will take place with a Butterfly Release takes place August 19 at the Christian County Justice Center. Futrell says they’ll release butterflies in honor of those who have lost their battle with cancer as a way to honor their memory.

Funds raised during these events go back to benefit the Christian County Relay For Life, and through that organization, directly helps locals who are battling cancers and helps support cancer research.
