Several local western Kentucky communities have been named one of the top 25 fastest-growing communities in the region—which means more residential units will need to follow, with plans in the works to create housing to meet that demand.
South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council Executive Director Carter Hendricks says cities such as Oak Grove, Guthrie, Elkton, and several others in Todd county rank among the fastest-growing residential markets in the state.
Hendricks says that he and several local leaders were informed that roughly 700 residential units planned to be built in Hopkinsville and Christian County in the next two years, a significant uptick in housing development.
Hendricks says that’s great news, because it shows just how the area is growing with industries and population.
Housing remains an ongoing discussion region wide, particularly in the Oak Grove area for Christian County, as they see an influx of people into the area, as does the need for infrastructure to support the increased traffic on area roadways.
