Fort Campbell has identified the soldier that was killed in an aviation training accident on Wednesday night and provided an update on another who was injured.
Forty-year-old Chief Warrant Officer 2 Dustin Wright died due to his injuries from an AH-64 Apache Helicopter training accident. He was declared deceased at the scene of the accident.
Wright was a pilot in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade. He joined the Army in 2010 and was stationed at Fort Campbell in 2022.
Another soldier sustained minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. The soldier was released from the hospital on the night of the incident.
Tyler Partridge, the commander of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, says the entire brigade is grieving Wright’s death. He says they will cherish the memories of his dedicated service and continue to live his legacy.
The training accident is under investigation.
