Habitat for Humanity accepting applications for home ownership in Hopkinsville

Habitat for Humanity of the Pennyrile is looking to build a new home in Hopkinsville and that means they’re now accepting applications for the next family that might call it their own.

Suzanne Arnold with Habitat for Humanity says this is first time in a while that they’ve had a chance to have an application process, and they’re excited to find a new family to partner with and get into a new home. She urged anyone who is in real need of their services to reach out to her at 270-885-8222 or come by the office in Hopkinsville at 2305 South Walnut Street.

Arnold says she’ll walk you through the process of the application and to see if you qualify—and she urged people to not be hesitant in applying, because you could be eligible.

She says this is best defined as a partnership between Habitat and the selected homeowners, as they must be willing to put in some sweat equity and be able to care for the house after its completion.

Arnold says this three-bedroom home will be in the city limits of Hopkinsville, so only Hopkinsville residents will be eligible to apply.

The deadline to fill out and turn in an application is June 30, and you can learn more on pennyrilehabitat.org.

Arnold says they’ve been proud to partner with the Hopkinsville Community College construction programs to provide housing to those in need for several years, and they aim for completely one or two houses a year through the Home Ownership Program.
