Oak Grove to join West Ky. Film Commission

The newly established West Kentucky Film Commission is set to officially launch next week and Oak Grove is going to have a seat at the camera.

According to the Oak Grove Tourism and Convention Commission and the City of Madisonville, what began as a vision out of Hopkins County has now grown into a large coalition of regional partners that include Bowling Green, Franklin, Central City, Henderson, Owensboro and also Oak Grove.

On Wednesday, regional leaders will be joined by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear to launch the initiative while spotlighting the growing film and television industry in western Kentucky. It will be held at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts at 2000 College Drive in Madisonville at 1 p.m.

Co-Commissioners Jeremy Winton and Kristi Kilday will share new initiatives from the Film Commission, including location development, production interest, and education efforts.

Winton says, “Our message is simple: Kentucky is open for production. We’re not just selling scenic views—we’re offering community support, talent, and access.”
