Son of late Commonwealth’s Attorney appointed to serve the 1st Judicial District

Governor Andy Beshear has made an appointment for a new Commonwealth’s Attorney to serve the 1st Judicial Circuit—and it’s a familiar name to that office with big shoes to fill.

The position became vacant when Michael Stacy, the Commonwealth’s Attorney at the time, was killed in a crash in April near the Clinton community of Hickman County when his vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree.

Now, his son, Michael “Bo” Stacy II, will step into the role previously held by his father, and will serve as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 1st Judicial Circuit.

Bo Stacy is no stranger to the office, having been serving as an assistant commonwealth’s attorney since 2020. He was injured in that same wreck in Hickman County.

Governor Beshear says, “Mike Stacy was a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about the commonwealth. Bo is a great prosecutor, and I know he will do a wonderful job in continuing his dad’s legacy.”

The 1st Judicial District includes Ballard, Carlisle, Fulton and Hickman counties.
