Tenth-ranked Greenwood scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and defeated Christian County 6-2 Thursday in a high school baseball game.
Nolan Young started for the Colonels, but ran into trouble in the fifth inning after striking out three and allowing only three hits through the first four frames. The Gators greeted relief pitcher Aiden Lewis with four hits and took advantage of a hit batter to build a 6-0 lead.
Austin Outland made it 6-1 in the top of the sixth inning. He scored on a passed ball after doubling to start the frame.
Layton Creamer drove home Gage Montes on a sacrifice fly in the sixth for the final score.
Christian County slipped to 14-13 on the season and is scheduled to play host to Marshall County today.
