The City of Hopkinsville is set to host three informational meetings in the coming days, to help residents who sustained flooding damage during April’s severe storms.
According to a news release, the meeting will take place on Wednesday at 6 p.m., Friday at 2 p.m. and then on May 21 at 4 p.m. to help provide guidance on obtaining the necessary building and floodplain permits for repairing or reconstructing flood-damaged structures.
City staff will be on hand to explain the permitting process, answer any questions or concerns, and make sure residents have the information and resources they need for safe rebuilding efforts.
All permit fees related to flood damage repairs have been waived.
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center remains open in Christian County, at the Murray State University Hopkinsville campus in rooms 207, 209 and 213 at 5305 Fort Campbell Boulevard. Working hours during the week are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sundays.
FEMA representatives will be on hand to explain available assistance programs, how to apply for aid and help connect survivors with resources for their recovery needs. Those affected by flooding and storms are encouraged to apply for assistance as soon as possible and the deadline to apply is June 25.
If you go to the center, make sure you bring the right information, including a current phone number, your address at the time of the disaster, your social security number, a general list of damage and losses, along with insurance information.
