CCHS’s Daniel, Kirby, Lacy sign college scholarships

It was three times the celebration for Christian County High School on Tuesday afternoon as a trio of athletes signed their letters-of-intent to continue their athletic and scholastic careers in college.

Senior basketball player Lazarie Daniel signed with Vincennes University in Indiana, senior volleyball player Skylar Kirby signed with Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, and senior cheerleader Claire Lacy inked paperwork to cheer next year at Murray State University.

For Daniel, a visit to Vincennes was all she needed to know that’s where she wanted to attend school. She said the campus is big, but has a small-time feel.

The 5-foot-8 forward, who scored more than 700 points and grabbed more than 500 rebounds in her Christian County career, said she chose Vincennes over several other schools because they showed interest in her first.

Daniel averaged 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game during her senior year and helped lead the Lady Colonels to the Region 2 semfiinals.

Meanwhile, Kirby finished up her career with 857 kills, 45 assists, 398 digs, and 190 aces. She led the Lady Colonels with 326 kills in 2024. She also had 30 assists, 275 digs and 58 aces last season.

Like Daniel, Kirby said she knew after an early visit to the school that she wanted to play there.

Kirby said she chose Trevecca over Lindsey Wilson and Campbellsville among others.

For Lacy, Murray State is home because a lot of her family members are alumni of the school.

Lacy said she was excited for the opportunity to cheer for the Racers.

Lacy will be part of the Murray cheer team that includes former Heritage Christian Academy cheerleader McKenzi Travis.
