HCA’s Leek signs letter with Bethel University

The all-time leading scorer in Heritage Christian Academy boys’ basketball history put a cap on his Warriors career on Tuesday morning by signing a letter-of-intent with Bethel University.

Jason Leek, a 6-foot guard, who finished his career as the all-time leading scorer are HCA, said he chose Bethel over Brescia, Alice Lloyd, and several other schools.

Leek led the state in scoring last season at 33.6 points per game and also led the Warriors with 8.6 rebounds per game.

After the season he was named National Christian Schools Athletic Association Division 2 First Team All-American and to the Southeast Super Regional Team.

He also owns the school record for points in a game when he scored 55 against Trigg County last season.

Former HCA coach Matt McGowan said Leek had set the bar high for future players at the school.

McGowan said he felt that Leek’s strength will allow him to play righ away at Bethel.

Leek said he wants to improve his game before getting to the college level.

Bethel is located in McKenzie, Tenn., which is only about 90 minutes from Hopkinsville, which also played a part in Leek’s decision.
