Katie Smith drove in Chloe Almy with the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning and Christian County defeated Lyon County 6-5 Thursday in a high school softball game.
Christian County (13-10) scored solo runs in the second and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Lady Colonels pushed their advantage to 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Alyssa Petterson hit a two-run double.
However, the Lady Lyons battled back and cut the lead to 4-1 in the sixth.
In the top of the seventh, Lyon scored four runs and took a 5-4 lead. However, Christian County sent the game into extra innings when Jayda Turner singled to drive in a run.
In the eighth, Almy singled and moved to second on a bunt by Alondra Rodriguez. Jazzy Tejada was intentionally walked and Smith’s sacrifice fly scored Almy for the win.
Petterson earned the pitching in in relief of Jordan Turner.
Jayda Turner went 3-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Lady Colonels.
Christian County is scheduled to play Monday at Crittenden County.
