Police arrest Hopkinsville man for endangerment, drug trafficking

Hopkinsville Police arrested 20-year-old Ja’Nahveon Lynes of Hopkinsville for wanton endangerment and drug trafficking Wednesday night.

Officers were dispatched to a location on Tanglewood Drive for a report alleging that a person in a car pointed a gun at two people outside of a residence. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the car and ordered the three occupants to exit.

The car was searched because officer’s smelt marijuana which was reportedly found in the car along with two handguns and a bag of cocaine. The victims told officers that the person was pointing the gun at them from the backseat of the car which is where Lynes was allegedly sitting.

Lynes reportedly told officers that one of the handguns, the cocaine and marijuana were his. He was charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
