Christian County found its offense and Eddie Davis shut down visiting Heritage Christian Academy’s bats and the Colonels routed the Warriors 15-0 in a four-inning District 8 baseball game Monday.
Davis tossed a no-hitter and was only a walk away from a perfect game for the Colonels, who improved to 10-9 overall and 4-0 in district play.
The sophomore right-hander struck out eight and allowed only one base runner in the game to improve to 3-1 on the season.
The Colonels, who struggled to score one run total in two games over the weekend, gave Davis all the support he would need in the first inning. Christian County sent 17 batters to the plate and 13 scored.
The Colonels had eight hits in the frame and none bigger than a three-run triple by Gage Montes. Davis also helped himself with a two-run double.
HCA pitcher Jayden Nichols settled in after the first inning, however the damage was done. Nichols finished the game with four strikeouts but he walked eight, including four in the first inning.
The Colonels pushed their lead to 14-0 in the third inning as Davis led off with a single and courtesy runner Drew Fincham came around to score.
The game ended in the bottom of the fourth after Sebastian Dazey walked and stole second base. He came around to score on a single by Montes, who finished the day 3-for-3 with five RBI.
Davis, Thad Toliver, and Layton Creamer all finished with two hits for the Colonels.
Christian County is off until Friday night when they travel across town to take on Hopkinsville in a 6 p.m. game. Airtime for Friday’s game is 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm.
HCA (3-10, 0-4) jumps back into play today as they play host to District 8 foe Fort Campbell at 5:30 p.m.
