Two facing drug trafficking charges following Oak Grove pursuit

Two Tennessee residents are facing numerous charges following a drug investigation and pursuit that happened on Sunday. 

According to the Oak Grove Police Department, officers and deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office responded to a location on Winners Way for reports of individuals dealing drugs in the area. Upon arrival, law enforcement detained five individuals, but during the investigation, 33-year-old Quintez Jewell of Memphis and 23-year-old Alyssa McWherter of Clarksville, fled from police.

During the pursuit, an officer was injured and treated and Jennie Stuart Medical Center.

Both women were apprehended, with Jewell charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, two counts of first-degree trafficking in methamphetamine, trafficking in cocaine, receiving stolen property, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. 

McWherter was charged with possession of methamphetamine and third-degree fleeing or evading police. 

The other individuals that had been detained were released without charges. The injured officer is expected to make a full recovery.
