The Hopkinsville-Christian County Downtown Farmers Market is set to return in spring, but before it comes back, Community and Development Services (CDS) are on the search for more vendors.
From CDS Holly Boggess and Emalee Hudson appeared on WHOP Radio on Friday to what they have planned for the upcoming farmers market season.
Boggess says this year they are focused on recruiting more vendors and will be hosting an informational meeting at 9 a.m. on March 6 at the CDS Office. She says they are looking for more farmers, bakers and crafters.
The farmer’s market is registered through the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and in recent years the department expanded regulations to allow more goods to be sold at farmer markets to support community gathering.
The market is currently set for Thursday evenings and Boggess says some members of the community have asked for Saturday markets to return. She says the weekend market could make a comeback, but there needs to be enough vendors interested in setting up on Saturday’s.
The farmer’s market is expected to return to the Founder’s Square pavilion in April.
