Local Boys and Girls Club Director shares program, expansion updates

Hopkinsville-Christian County Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Terrence Davis provided program updates and spotlighted the club’s expansion plans at Tuesday’s Hopkinsville Rotary Club meeting.

Davis shared that 2025 marks the Boys and Girls Club’s 20th anniversary in Hopkinsville and thanked the Rotary Club for their ongoing support.

It’s still winter, but Davis says they are already preparing for their Summer Program which runs from June 2 through mid-August. The program will focus on academics and workforce development.

Further focusing on workforce development, Davis says the club has partnered with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for a new program called Transfer VR which will allow students to explore and learn about different career fields through virtual reality.

The club is also set to undergo some expansions. In September 2024 the club cut the ribbon on its expanded Teen Center and FabLab which features 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking equipment, a screen printer, audio and video production equipment, a podcast studio and graphic design tools.

Davis says their next project is the Tween Center which will be for sixth and seventh-graders. Work on the Tween Center is set to begin in the summer.

Then in the footprint of the Walnut Street Stadium, Davis says they plan to construct a club center for elementary school students. The expansions will allow more students to join the club.
