Christian County moved to 2-0 in the District 8 boys’ basketball standings with a 75-51 victory over Heritage Christian Academy Thursday night at Warrior Gym.
HCA senior guard Jason Leek surpassed 2,000 points for his career with 33 points in the game, but Christian County was too much for the Warriors.
Aiden Jesse led four Colonels in double figures with 16 points. Na’Darien Rowe and Zyon Wharton had 11 points each, and Josh Bridges added 10 for Christian County.
Leek picked up his third foul early in the second quarter and Christian County took advantage, jumping to a 36-25 halftime advantage. Jesse took over in the third quarter and helped the Colonels outscore the Warriors 23-10 to put the game out of reach.
The Colonels improved to 4-12 on the season. HCA slipped to 3-11 and 0-1 in district play. The Warriors are back in action tonight in a district game against Fort Campbell on post.
Christian County will go to Evansville on Saturday to take on Reitz in the morning and Central in the evening.
