After raising over $560,000 at their 74th auction last year, the Hopkinsville Rotary Club announced that the theme for the 75th annual Rotary Auction is “75 Years of Financing our Future.”
At the club’s Tuesday meeting, Auction Chair Landan Stallons says he wants this year’s auction to celebrate all of the past auctions while also celebrating the future of the club’s continued support of local youth.
Stallons says he was initially hesitant about taking on the role of auction chair, but after reflecting on the club’s mission of “service above self,” he decided to take on the responsibility.
Stallons says youth in the community have more academic support today than ever because of the club’s services and many people depend on their programs. Funds from the auction will go toward the Rotary Scholars program, which allows local students to attend Hopkinsville Community College tuition-free, and the Rotary Impact Program, which supports students pursuing high-demand career paths.
With the money raised by past auctions, Stallons say they have awarded over $11 million in student loans and scholarships, given over 1,700 students a tuition-free ride to the community college, have created a talent pipeline for high-demand career fields and formed the Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation.
Stallons says he is honored and excited to be a part of the club’s growing support of local students. Looking toward the future, Stallons says it’s important to dream big about what they can do for the community.
The auction will run from April 21 to April 26. More information about the auction is available at hopkinsvillerotary.com.
