Greenville man facing felony theft charge in shoplifting incident

A Greenville man is facing a felony theft charge after he was allegedly shoplifting at Lowe’s in Hopkinsville while intoxicated on Monday. 

According to the report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, officers responded to the store on Monday for reports a male suspect that reportedly had a gun and was attempting to steal items from the store.

Upon arrival, contact was made with 38-year-old Christoper Sparks of Greenville, and they saw several store items coming out of his back pockets. Once he was taken into custody, a search of Sparks’ person reportedly revealed multiple items of merchandise hidden on his person, some with the tags cut off, along with a firearm and two knives. Along with a shopping cart full of items, the amount came to approximately $1,900. 

Sparks was reportedly manifestly under the influence of some type of drug.  He was arrested and charged with felony theft by unlawful taking and public intoxication.
