Warriors shut down Rockets in 2nd half

Heritage Christian Academy ratcheted up the defense in the second half and ended a four-game losing streak by defeating Crittenden County 58-36 Monday in a boys’ high school basketball game at Paducah St. Mary.

The Rockets (0-7) led 26-24 at halftime, but HCA only allowed 10 points in the second half. The Warriors outscored Crittenden 20-4 in the third quarter to grab control of the game.

Jason Leek had 30 points, eight rebounds, four assists and five steals for the Warriors, who improved to 2-7 on the season.

Ethan Miles added 11 points and Cooper Kirkman pulled down eight rebounds.

HCA (2-7) will return to action Friday in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic against Caldwell County.
