Jaquavian Spencer, one of the Princess Theater shooting suspects has taken a plea deal to amended charges in Christian Circuit Court on Wednesday.
Spencer was arrested after he reportedly engaged in a gun fight with Zamarius Humphries in 2021 outside of the Princess Theater. Spencer injured Humphries and another shooter, Deovion Day, allegedly attempted to shoot Spencer, but injured Gteria Acree and murdered Aniyah Collins. However, Day has since been found not guilty of murder.
Spencer pled guilty to possession of a handgun by a convicted felon which comes with a recommended five-year sentence and first-degree wanton endangerment which was amended from first-degree assault and comes with a recommended two-year sentence.
Circuit Judge Andrew Self read the plea agreement which states that Spencer will not be eligible for any type of release prior to competition of his sentence.
After reading the agreement, Spencer officially pled guilty. Spencer’s defense attorney Ramon McGee then requested for him to temporarily be released on an ankle monitor to see his family before he is formally sentenced. Self denied the request because of the violent nature of the incident.
Spencer will reappear in court for final sentencing on January 15.
