The Tennessee Valley Authority was at the Milliken Memorial House in Elkton Thursday, as they heard from the public about a proposed transmission system project that will trace its way through Todd and Logan counties.
The new line would begin at the new switching station that will be located off of Old Trenton Road, and then would extend east to the Cave Springs Switching Station. That means a good amount of property could potentially see some type of impact from the project, and a good number of individuals made their way to the open house to voice their concerns and ask questions about what they should expect.
Manager of Transmission Siting Shane Beasley with the TVA says they’re always glad to see a good turnout to events like this one, because the opinions of the citizens are very valuable during the planning process.
He says it gives all a chance to ask or answers questions, and most folks are worried about what impacts project like this could have to their property.
Then, technicians, project managers and other officials with the TVA can answer those questions and concerns to the best of their ability. He says this transmission line is much needed in this area, not just to meet the demands of industrial and residential growth, but to also boost their resiliency in the overall power system.
The new line would be built using primarily single-and double-pole, or also known as H-frame, steel structures centered on new 100-foot-wide right of way.
