Early voting kicked off on Thursday and Kentucky Secretary of State, Michael Adams appeared at Thursday’s Team Kentucky Update to share voting information and trends.
Adams reminded voters who are voting via absentee ballot that their respective county clerk office needs to have those ballots by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5 in order for them to be counted.
Each county has an absentee voting drop box and its location can be found at govote.ky.gov.
Adams also encourages early voting, and says those waiting until Tuesday to vote may encounter longer lines. In 2020, Adams says 45% of Kentucky voters voted early and as a result election day went smoothly.
Regarding voting trends, Adams says Kentucky had its highest voter turnout since 1908 and he expects this year’s turnout to surpass that of the last presidential election.
Adams also reminded voters to be informed of what races are on the ballot before they head to the polls. This year’s election includes nonpartisan races and lengthy amendments by coming to the polls informed, Adams says they can avoid long lines from forming.
In Christian County, early voting continues from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Bruce Convention Center, the Walnut Street Center and the Senior Citizens Center. Then on Tuesday, 13 polling places will be open in Christian County from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Voters in Christian County can vote at any county polling place.
