Local animal shelter hosts Halloween adoption event

The Christian County Regional Animal Shelter got into the Halloween Spirit for their Howl-O-Weenie Adoption Event on Saturday which included, discounted pet adoptions and services, a vendor market and activities for the kiddos.

Folks got to find a furry addition to their family and receive discounted nail clipping and microchipping services. the fund from the adoptions and services went to the shelter’s Get Em’ Done Program. Shelter Director, Melissa Goff says 20 pets were adopted at the event which is double in comparison to an average day.

The Get Em’ Done Program focuses on getting stray dogs and cats spayed or neutered to avoid accidental litters. Goff says many pets surrendered to the shelter come from accidental or unwanted litters.

Goff says the pets that were adopted were mostly long timers at the shelter, so she was happy to see them find homes.
