101st Airborne soldiers head to North Carolina to help in hurricane relief efforts

Over 500 soldiers with the 101st Airborne Division Air Assault are heading to assist in Hurricane Helene relief efforts in North Carolina.

According to a news release, the soldiers who are a part of “Task Force Falcon”, headed out Saturday equipped with 60 all-terrain vehicles and trained to perform tasks such as search and rescue missions, medical aid, route assessment and clearance, supply distribution, equipment maintenance and much more. They’ll be assisting the North Carolina National Guard and FEMA in their efforts.

The division is taking with them over 15 utility and cargo helicopters to assist in personnel and logistical movements.

Lt. Colonel Walt Gray is the Task Force Falcon commander and says, “We are proud to support this effort and help American citizens in times of need. Our training prepares us to respond quickly in challenging situations, and this mission highlights the importance of that.”
