Local Salvation Army Lt. Donegan helping with Hurricane Helene relief efforts

The Lieutenant of the Hopkinsville Salvation Army is currently serving as part of the Salvation Army’s Incident Management Team in east Tennessee, helping in Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

According to a news release, Lt. Donegan has been in the area since Sunday, acting as Operations Chief for disaster relief efforts. That means he’s responsible for managing all direct services provided during the disaster relief operation. This includes overseeing food service, bulk distribution of essential goods, and emergency assistance. He is supervising the largest number of operational resources, ensuring that those affected by the flooding receive the help they need.

Lt. Donegan has served in similar capacities before, particularly in response to the deadly tornadoes that tore across western Kentucky in December of 2021, along with several hurricane response efforts.

Lt. Donegan states, “Disaster work is at the heart of what we do at The Salvation Army. In times of crisis, we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, providing hope and tangible support to those who are suffering. It’s an honor to be here, but I’m also looking forward to reuniting with my family in Hopkinsville after this deployment.”
