UHA comes up just short in All ‘A’ semis

It was pure heartbreak for the University Heights Academy Blazers Saturday night as they fell one game short of the All “A” Classic State Soccer Tournament championship game, falling 2-1 to Oneida Baptist in a match determined by shootouts.

Oneida led 1-0 at halftime, but Cal Givens tied the game midway through the second half.

The Blazers had two shots hit the crossbar late that would have given them the lead. UHA outshot Oneida Baptist 15-4 in the contest.

UHA advanced to the semifinals with a 4-0 win over Prestonsburg. Hayden Hunt had two goals and an assist to pace the Blazers. Griffin McCoy and Lincoln Hauret also scored.

Logan Miller provided one assist.

Eli Finch and Hayden Fitzsimmons shared time in the goal for the win.

Oneida Baptist advance to the semifinals with 4-0 win over Todd County Central. Oneida will play Louisville Collegiate in the championship Sunday.

UHA is 10-5 and returns to action Tuesday night at home against Hopkinsville in a game that will decide the top seed in next month’s District 8 tournament.
