Hoptown stops losing skid, tops Madisonville

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers’ volleyball team stopped a six-match losing streak by defeating visiting Madisonville-North Hopkins 3-1 Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers won the first two sets 25-15, 26-24 before the Lady Maroons rebounded to take the third set 25-15.

However, Hoptown closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the fourth set.

Madysen Taggart had nine kills, three blocks, six digs and an ace to pace Hoptown. Saralynn Major added three kills, two blocks, a dig and an ace.

Kyleigh Weber provided seven assists, three digs and an ace and Lainey Stewart had eight assists with two digs and an ace. Danaja Wheeler had 11 digs and Mariana Vieyra had a kill and two aces. Maliah Miller also had three kills on the night.

Hopkinsville’s freshman and JV squads also defeated Madisonville on Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers are now 2-8 overall and will play in the Quad State tonight and Saturday. They are scheduled to play Graves County and Bowling Green tonight and Dyer County, Tenn., in pool play on Saturday.
