Arts Council Director spotlights upcoming events

argaret Prim, the executive director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council appeared at Thursday’s Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club meeting to spotlight what they have planned for their upcoming season.

Prim says they had a big season last year and celebrated the Alhambra Theatre’s 95th birthday. In 2023, Prim says around 40,000 patrons attended a show that theatre and around 7,000 of those theatre attendees came from outside of Christian County.

The theatre also hosted its inaugural season of Jazz on Stage. Prim says the series came to be when the theatre had low sales for a jazz show and decided to seat the audience on stage and create a jazz lounge. The first jazz of the season is set for October 24.

Along with hosting jazz shows, Prim says they are gearing up to host Dancing with Our Stars an annual fundraising event for the council and Sanctuary, Inc. Prim The community can donate by voting for their favorite team ahead of the competition. mirror ball champions will be determined based on both their dance scores and donation amounts.

Voting is available at pennyroyalarts.kindful.com and the competition gets underway on September 7 at the theatre.

Later in September, the theatre’s Live Show Season will include six shows and kicks off with a show by Eagles tribute band, To the Limit: The Ultimate Eagles Experience on September 28.
