Men2Be talks success, goals and community support at Gala

It was a night of celebration, good times and fundraising for a cause, as the community came together for the Men2Be Fourth Annual Gala Saturday night.

Men2Be is a local non-profit, mentorship program that’s dedicated to providing guidance and resources to young men in Hopkinsville and Christian County, to see them succeed in all areas of life, no matter their circumstances in life. The Gala was blessed with two keynote speakers, starting with former NFL athlete Randall Cobb, who detailed his life growing up in a struggling neighborhood and the impact it had on his life.

He says many of these young men face hardships every day, and programs like Men2Be can be the catalyst to help them get on the right path—but they can’t do it alone.

Valiant Cross Academy co-founder Anthony Brock from Alabama heads up his own mentorship program and he says he knows its not easy. He says young black men are capable of amazing things, and agencies like Men2Be are paving the way for greatness.

Brock says Men2Be needs community support to be successful, and together, everyone can help make sure they stay afloat.

Several Nydarian Humanitarian Scholarships were handed out the event, including to Aaron Johnson for $500, Devin Cherry Jr. in the amount of $1,500 and Dominique Davies for $2,000. Distinguished workers, volunteers and supporters were recognized throughout the night.

The Gala acts as a fundraiser for Men2Be, to help them continue providing aid to local youth. Anyone who wants to donate to the cause can contact Men2Be through their Facebook page.
