One charged, one badly injured in assault involving machete

A man from Miami, Florida is facing an assault charge in Christian County after allegedly assaulting a man with a machete in Oak Grove.

According to the police report, officers responded to the 8100 block of Pembroke-Oak Grove Road on Tuesday at around 9:45 a.m. for reports of a stabbing and upon arrival, officers made contact with 32-year-old Yoandi Perez of Miami who was covered in blood.  He was quickly detained and reportedly kept saying he and the male victim had gotten into a fight and he was sorry.

The victim was flown to a Nashville hospital for treatment of severe lacerations and officers located a bloody machete on the inside of the truck the altercation had taken place by.

While on the way to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, Perez reportedly told officers he was tired of the victim bullying him and now he would never bully him again. Perez was medically cleared and then taken to the Christian County Jail.

He is charged with first-degree assault.
