Parks and Recreation concludes successful Hoptown Hose Down season

Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation and the Hopkinsville Fire Department hosted the final Hoptown Hose Down of the season at Joe Mumford Park on Tuesday to give the community a much needed cool down during this intense heat.

On each Tuesday during July, the fire department has brought out their trucks and set up a water hose to safely spray attendees. Rachel Sanders from Parks and Recreation, says they have had a great hose down season and have introduced new additions to the event such as popsicles, beach balls and giveaways.

In comparison to last year, Sanders says their attendance has increase and she has noticed people attending multiple times. This year’s hose downs have landed on days that had exceptional heat, and Sanders says it’s been great providing a way for people to cool down for free.

After having great turnouts this year, Sanders says they look forward to bringing it back next year. To stay up to date on all of Parks and Recreation’s summer events check out hoptownrec.com.
