Salvation Army opens cooling station, extends emergency shelter hours due to the heat

Because of the extreme heat facing the region this week, with a Heat Advisory already in place, the Hopkinsville Salvation Army will open their Cooling Station and will extend their emergency shelter hours.

The cooling station is located a 313 East Seventh Street in Hopkinsville, where it will be open from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. through Friday. The Emergency Shelter hours will be extended to 24-hours a day through Saturday at the same location.

Lt. David Donegan says, “The well-being of our community is our top priority. With the current extreme heat, it is crucial that we provide a safe and cool environment for those in need. Our doors are open to anyone seeking relief from the heat, and we encourage the community to support these efforts.”

The Salvation Army is asking the community for assistance in the endeavor, asking for donations to keep the doors open.
