Twenty five teams and more than 100 golfers battled through two lightning delays and warm temperatures Monday in the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club Invitational.
McCracken County carded a 305 to edge Madisonville-North Hopkins and Marshall County by three strokes to win the team championship.
The individual title was decided in a playoff with Daviess County’s Grant Broughton defeating Tyler Bryan, of Madisonville, and West Jessamine’s Chris Kelley for the championship. All three carded 70’s on the day.
Hopkinsville High School senior Wade Foster tied for 10th place with a 74. The Tigers had a team score of 345. Ryan Martin carded an 83 and Matthew Baker shot a 93. Henry Riggs and Sam Riggs finished at 95 and 102, respectively.
University Heights Academy finished at 346. Hayden Hunt paced the Blazers with an 80, followed by Cal Givens’ 84. Courtland Gibson carded an 89 and Jackson Flynn and Bryson Turner had a 93 and 96, respectively.
Christian County had a team score of 386 and was led by Drew Fincham’s 82. Peyton Hilton shot a 93, followed by Tay Martinez (105), Aiden Lewis (106) and Jaedon McMillan (116).
Heritage Christian did not have a team in the event, but Carson Powell carded an 84 for the Warriors. Cruz Egbert also played for HCA and carded a 95.
