A Benton man was killed in a head-on collision on U.S. 68 West in Marshall County Friday.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, it happened near Darnall Road when a vehicle operated by 50-year-old Gedget Quigley of Paducah drifted into the westbound lane while traveling eastbound on U.S. 68.
That’s when his vehicle collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 73-year-old Mikael Smith of Benton. Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Quigley was flown to an out of state hospital for treatment of severe injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Possum Trot-Sharpe Fire Department, Marshall County Rescue Squad, and the Marshall County Coroner’s Office.
