The toddler found in a small body of water during a search in Logan County Wednesday has passed away.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to Pleasant Drive in Russellville to help in the efforts to locate a two-year-old girl who had walked away from a residence and possible into a surrounding cornfield.
The search began at once, with officers from the sheriff’s office, the Russellville Police Department, Auburn Police and neighbors all participating.
The child was located unresponsive in a small body of water—CPR began immediately and the child was rushed to MED-Center Health in Russellville. Emergency Room personnel were able to stabilize the child at that time, who was then flown to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in critical condition. She would pass away from her injuries overnight.
No information on the parties involved is being released at this time, and the Sheriff’s Office requests that citizens respect the privacy of the family.
