The elder abuse and murder case against Ann Harrison was dismissed in Christian Circuit Court on Wednesday.
Harrison was arrested in connection to the death of 70-year-old Anthony Gilstrap who she was partly responsible for taking care of. Harrison was facing charges of murder, abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Commonwealth’s Attorney, Maureen Leamy shared that a report of Harrison’s finances showed that Harrison had her own income and was not exploiting Gilstrap, so a motive can not be proved. Leamy also shared that her involvement with Gilstrap’s care can’t be proven either.
In relation to Anthony Gilstrap’s death, his son, Jacob Gilstrap, pled guilty to abuse, exploitation, reckless homicide and other charges in September 2023, totaling to a 12-year sentence.
As a result of the report not proving any financial exploitation, Circuit Judge Andrew Self dismissed the case against Harrison.
