Hopkinsville man charged with wanton endangerment

A Hopkinsville man is facing charges after he allegedly pointed a gun at law enforcement officers at a residence on Lafayette Road on Monday.

According to the police report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, officers responded to a home in the 350 block of Lafayette and upon arrival, announced they were at the door and for residents to come to the door. 

Officers reportedly saw 30-year-old Jamaal Wilkerson of Hopkinsville holding a gun and he allegedly raised it at officers. Wilkerson dropped the gun and was detained. 

A witness told officers Wilkerson had allegedly fired a gun in the home where she and children were inside.  A search of the home revealed the gun along with a shell casing, along with a spent found in the wall of a bedroom. 

Wilkerson was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and third-degree assault of a police officer.
