The Pennyrile Area Community Band is inviting music lovers to their annual Spring Concert where they will perform new music in honor of their former band director, Scott Estes, who passed away in 2023.
The Community Band was founded in 2018 and includes musicians from the region with a wide range of musical experience, from beginners to professionals.
Current Community Band Director, Lori Boehman says they are excited bring their music to the community and they are happy to be able to honor Estes. Boehman says fellow musician Daniel Jenkins, who was a close friend to Estes, composed “Engage” in his honor and will be conducting the piece as well.
Along with premiering, “Engage” Boehman says they will be playing a couple other new pieces as well as pieces that Estes enjoyed which will make for a well-rounded evening of music.
The concert is free to attend, but Boehman says they are always accepting donations since they are a nonprofit.
The Community Band’s Spring Concert kicks-off on Sunday, April 28 at 3 p.m. at the Hopkinsville Community College Auditorium.
