HPD charges man with burglary, unlawful imprisonment following pursuit

A man is facing numerous charges following a pursuit in Hopkinsville Tuesday evening.

According to the Hopkinsville Police Department report, officers observed a person on a motor scooter run several stop signs and they attempted a traffic stop. The suspect reportedly fled, eventually crashing his scooter between two houses and fleeing on foot.

Officers lost track of the suspect, but an individual matching his description was later located in the same area, around McKee Street and Central Avenue.  Information he gave to officers had no matches in the United States and could not be verified and he listed on the report only as John Doe.

Officers were approached by a woman holding a bag of clothing, who told officers it was the suspect’s—she stated that he came to the back door of her home and when her 12-year-old daughter opened the door, he went inside to hide.

The 12-year-old says she attempted to call 911 but the suspect would follow her and not allow her to call.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, unlawful imprisonment, two counts of fleeing or evading police and disregarding a stop sign.
