Animal shelter partners with Lowe’s to host adoption event

For those searching for a furry addition to their family, the Christian County Animal Shelter and the Hopkinsville Lowe’s Home Improvement store are partnering to host a pet adoption event.

Melissa Goff, the director of the Animal Shelter shared that Lowe’s reached out to them about hosting an adoption event. At the event Goff says they will have dogs available for adoption as well as micro-chipping services available.

Adoption prices and micro-chipping services will be discounted at the event as well. Adopting an adult dog from the Animal Shelter can cost $83 at most and a puppy can cost $77.50 at the most, but at the event the most an adult dog will cost $53 and at the most a puppy will cost $47.50 and micro-chipping will cost $8.

The adoption event is also coming at a time where the Animal Shelter is at capacity and is still having steady pet intake numbers. Goff says their intake numbers typically decrease in the winter and rise during the warmer seasons.

Goff says she looks forward to the event and hopes that even those who already have pets come and get them micro-chipped to avoid them from becoming strays in the future.

The Lowe’s Adoption Event is being hosted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Hopkinsville Lowe’s. The event is cash only.
